Haven't been to a hair salon in a year. Had no clue what I wanted. Not a whole lot of damage. I rarely use heat. Just oils and let it air dry. Just wanted it cleaned up. Emily, did a fantastic job! Kudos to her without having much to go on. Styled it beautifully after a trim. Got lots of compliments through out the day. Will definitely be going back!! Still toying with the idea of highlights, but definitely my new salon.
1-Star Review – Salon Cortina, DuBois, PA I recently moved to the DuBois area and chose Salon Cortina because of its 5-star rating. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. I initially had my hair done by Riley. While the result did not match the reference photos I provided, I decided to move forward with ordering hair extensions through her. In between services, I also had an eyelash lift and tint done by another stylist, which was the only positive experience I had at the salon. Before a nail appointment, I clearly expressed that I was very protective of my natural nails. I had spent over a year growing them out, and they were long and healthy. During my appointment with Macy (who was recommended to me), she aggressively filed my nails to the point that they became extremely thin. I told her multiple times that I could feel the drill through my nail and into my finger, but the filing continued. The next day, one of my nails broke — something that had not happened in over a year. I contacted the salon professionally and returned to have them addressed. Macy did not acknowledge me, and another technician redid them. Within days, they broke again. I contacted the salon a second time and was offered either a redo or a refund. I chose to go elsewhere to fix the damage. At my hair extension appointment shortly after, I noticed the extensions did not match my hair color at all — despite only a few weeks having passed. When I mentioned the nail issue to Riley, she became upset and told me I “shouldn’t talk about people when they’re not there” and questioned the refund. She then stated she no longer felt comfortable doing my hair. The owner later told me she had “heard my nails were brittle before,” which was completely inaccurate. To make matters worse, during the refund process I was accidentally charged again for both the hair extensions and the nail service. I then had to spend additional time working with my bank to correct the duplicate charges. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience — not just because of the quality issues, but because of how concerns were handled. As someone new to the area, I had hoped to find a salon I could trust. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. BTW- they were my real nails. Please don’t make the same mistake I did :(
I have gone to Emily for color, cut, extensions, and my bridal hair and she never disappoints! The salon is so cute and clean! Everyone as Salon Cortina is always friendly and professional!
